	Tansiyon


An image from my on-going body of work ‘Tansiyon’.


Tansiyon, is a journey through the multitude of
emotions each visit back home brings up, playing
cat’s cradle. At its centre, is the tension born out of
dualities - to be true to one’s self and to live a
version others wish to believe - a place of confusion
where care and love co-exist with pretence and
rejection. Something boiling under the surface,
tension seeping through unexpected moments of
calm and domesticity.

	Dönen Pansiyon


An image from the interactive audio &#38;amp; visual installation ‘Dönen Pansiyon’, a collaboration between artists Ilayda Akarca and Flo.&#38;nbsp;


Dönen Pansiyon is a site-specific, interactive installation of sound and images.


It explores migration, home and memory, in fragments, and reflects on the dissonant process of displacement, bringing together selected images from an on-going body of work, Tansiyon, by Ilayda, and the sound design by Flo, from field recordings between artists’ travels across borders and time.
The installation was shown at Spike Island, first floor stairwell, during the Spike Open 2026.&#38;nbsp;

Inleyen Nağmeler

	
My on going project 'Inleyen Nağmeler' is an exploration of thoughts and questions on displacement and belonging. Started as a reflection of my experiences as an immigrant, over time, the work formed into a visual journey of meditations on what home ‘was’, what it ’has become’ and everything in between, evoked through both the recurring memories of childhood and the body of my lover.

	'Think Outside of the Box but Inside the Potato' was a collaborative brief between Hot Potato and UWE Photography. Hot Potato is a photography led publication that covers global politics and cultural affairs in innovative ways, founded by Naoise O’Keefe.&#38;nbsp;
Using the potato as a starting point for research, I produced a small body of work collaborating with people who were interested in sharing with me what they have ‘gleaned’ from the street and their stories of how they came to acquire these objects.

‘Gleaners and Who?’ is part of a limited edition publication and was exhibited at Free Range, London, 2022.&#38;nbsp;

Pieces from a photograph of my father set in motion an idea of playing with the relationship between the gender and identity; between how we dress and who we are.
This is a work in progress.


Im holding a photo of my father.
In the pink hues of it, everything is in slight blur,
like the walk of the dogs at his sides,
And the wind messing his hair,
everything is in motion.


Here I sit with a shirt like his, 
jeans and socks 
Performing a version, of who I am 
or how I imagine to be
Too uncomfortable sit,
in between worlds, 
hovering, 
hiding,
and playing.


Like in the photograph, 
everything is in motion,
constantly changing 
to be imagined.

‘Queering the Family’, is an obsessive rereading, and reappropriating of personal family archives, an attempt of telling new perspectives on love, identity and relationships through bodies, expressions and magnified details of the family album.
 This is a work in progress.

	Au-delà de Mer
	
‘Au-dela de mer’ is a dummy book I produced from the photos of my personal archive(2018-Present). The title translates as ‘beyond the sea’. In this body of work I explore the idiosyncrasies of my family members and the dynamics within, reflecting on feelings of longing and nostalgia born out of my displacement. Cyanotype prints, pressed flowers and words from a poem of Didem Madak, accompany the photographs.

The images included in the book sit within a wider body of work-in-progress.

Printed and bound by Ilayda Akarca, Inleyen Nağmeler is a handmade book with archival images and photographs from the artist’s on going project with the same title. It is 5x7 inches, softcover of Tosa Shi paper 54gsm. Over time, with each viewing and touch, this textured, delicate but strong paper will&#38;nbsp; be marked, like scars on the skin, showing signs of life and change reflective of the journey of the artist’s displacement.
